Questions To Ask A REALTOR

When you are ready to select a REALTOR, here are a few questions you can ask.

Make sure the REALTOR presents a "listing presentation" to you. This presentation should answer many of these questions. If you will need a buyer's agent, also make sure everything is explained up front.

- How long have you been a REALTOR? Full or part time?

- What professional organizations do you belong to?

- Do you have a valid Department of Real Estate License?

- What is your responsibility to me as your client?

- Do you represent both buyers and sellers at the same time? If so, Who's best interest are you looking out for?

- How will you keep me informed of new listings that I may be interested in?

- What does the listing agreement entail, what are the beginning and expiration dates, and what are the fee amounts I will be paying?

- Is there a charge or contract when working with buyers? (Some brokers/agents DO have contracts and fees)

- What is your marketing philosophy? Ask for their complete marketing plan A-Z.

- What can the Realtor's company do for you?

What is their company's share of the local market? Are they part of a large or world wide referral network?

- What types of things separate you from your competition and will you give me some feedback? - How effectively will they advertise? Do they have 24-hour advertising capability?

- What disclosure laws apply to me and what do I need to be aware of?

- How does the Realtor market to other Realtors?

- Are they a Realtor or a Real Estate agent? (There is a difference)

- Does the Realtor have a strong internet presence? If not, why? Will your home have enough exposure for all potential buyers to view? (85% of buyers go to the internet first)

Helping Small Business Consulting Clients in Denial

As a consultant involved in small business consulting, your clients may sometimes ask you why they need the more powerful or larger network you are recommending. Many may say their networks work great most of the time.

Selling Small Business Consulting Clients Fear

When clients question your recommendations or are in denial about their needs, you will often have to sell fear. Talk to the small business consulting client about another customer that trusted his own PC-savvy bookkeeper so much that she was able to steal $50K from the company by covering her trails because no one else was paying attention to the network or its activities. Only the most nave clients will trust every employee and person that has access to the building.

Security In Small Business Consulting

In real life, small business owners don't typically think about security until an emergency arises. It's your responsibility as a small business consulting expert to inform your prospects and clients about the importance of addressing security issues. Ask them to think about sensitive files including credit card numbers, social security numbers, trade secrets, payroll information and annual employee evaluations.

Client Needs

Small business consulting clients often are not thinking big enough when they question your recommendations for a different network. This is the point at which you should take the client through a thorough initial consultation, needs analysis, IT audit and site evaluation.

Often a small business owner will just ask for file sharing or e-mail, but if you delve deeper, you will discover the client needs more sophisticated technological elements.

If small business consulting clients say they don't need better data security, you need to dig deeper. Find out where they store sensitive information and figure out how to design systems that will work with their particular needs.

Grease and Sand

Tracked in grease and sand are the number one reason for damaged interior carpeting, and why floor mats (any kind really) are required to protect your car's resale value.

I say "any kind" and that is true, for the most part. Starting with sand, and dirt, the direct pressure and grinding motion of the feet while sitting in the car or getting in and out, grinds the sand and dirt into the fibers of the carpet, flaying away stain protection sealants and separating the weaves so your carpet begins to have that "fuzzy" look.

Anything that can keep this direct and focuses grinding from happening to your car's carpet, will save its beauty and extend the carpet's life.

By the time most auto carpets begin to show signs of wear, the internal fiber damage is often much greater.

It is very important to vacuum your passage areas regularly, using a powerful vacuum that can pull the sand out of the carpet, through the dense weave. Most car manufactures understand the tremendous wear car carpeting is subjected too, so the weaves of the carpets used are much more dense than most household carpeting.

The only real protection your car carpeting has against sand and dirt however is floor mats, or regular (weekly) vacuuming.

Grease and oils on the other hand are a different story. Vacuuming won't help you with grease (in fact vigorous vacuuming can spread the grease around), and it comes in the car from all sources.

Asphalt and road tar
Parking lot drippings
Fast food spills
and many more

Once grease is in the fibers, it bonds with dirt and sand, matting the fibers together and basically turning your own carpet into sand paper. The damage from that point is exponential.

There are several trick remedies on the market for removing grease from carpet fibers (without bleaching out the color of your carpeting at the same time). Nothing works better than a deep carpet clean buy a profession steam (or dry) cleaner.

Some of the lesser answers include :

Pouring cornstarch onto the spot. Rub in lightly. Let sit for two or three hours, then vacuum.

Put WD-40 on a white cloth (it won't damage the carpet coloring), apply to the grease or oil area gentaly so that you do not spread the stain, then dab with a clean cloth to pick the released oil and grease from the carpet. Clean the area with a carpet spot cleaner product afterwards.

Getting floor mats now will save you hours of time later and keep your carpet safe from both of these resale-value thieves.

Fido's Fortress: Puppy Proofing Your Home

Its safe to say, my dog has me well trained. My best friend since she was six weeks old, my precious pup is now a fourteen year old peke-a-poo, missing teeth, missing vision, and missing manners. She growls at me whenever she wants MY dinner, she awakes me at three a.m. so I can give her a drink from my glass and free her from having to walk the ten steps to her water bowl, and she bites me whenever I accidentally touch her as she sleeps in our bed (90 percent of the bed, she has decided, belongs to her ten pound frame). Yes, its fair to say, when it comes to my dog, I am nothing if not obedient.

Id like to say it hasnt always been like this; Id like to claim that I once had the upper hand and behaved like, well, the superior species. But, the truth is, I never did. Even before I brought her home, I found myself running around and getting things ready for her arrival. I bought her everything she needed, stopping just short of getting her a diamond studded collar from Tiffanys, and I puppy proofed my house; I puppy proofed my house like a maniac: there was no way my dog was going to get hurt in my, oh Im sorry, her, home.

This brings me to the topic of puppy proofing. As essential as it is, its not that hard to overlook; new dog owners might find themselves forgetting to make a safe environment as they become so wrapped up simply in loving their puppy. Still, puppy proofing your house helps you assure that you will have a puppy to love. So, before you bring home your new bundle of joy, try to engage in the following:

Secure your cords: Like moths to flames, puppies have been known to flock towards electrical cords, placing them in their mouths, and chewing away. Not only does this ruin your cord, but it can give your puppy quite a shock. To avoid this, keep cords out of the area where your puppy will be. If its impossible to keep cords out completely if your puppy is in the TV room, it might be hard to not have a cord for your plasma television place them out of your puppys reach: hang them from something high, tape them to the wall, or purchase a wire cover.

Guard your Balcony: All puppies have some Christopher Columbus in them: they like to explore. While this is often harmless, when a puppy starts to explore high areas, such as a deck or upstairs balcony, they run the risk of falling. Since you probably wont be able to keep an eye on your puppy twenty four hours a day, buying a balcony guard is your best bet. A balcony guard allows your puppy to explore higher areas all while assuring that he or she wont suddenly be thrown off course.

Latch Your Cabinets: If theres one thing puppies know how to do, its get into things they shouldnt. Cabinets, particularly ones that house kitchen or bathroom trash, are prime goals for puppy pursuing. If successful in their venture, puppies can find things in cabinets that could harm them: household cleaners, chicken bones, mouse traps, bleach. Simply putting latches on your cabinets can assure your puppy wont be able to open the door on this danger.

Hang Your Plants: I remember my dog, as a puppy, had an affinity for getting into plants. Sometimes she would dig them up, sometimes she would pee on them, and sometimes mistaking them for a salad bar she would eat them. This, turns out, wasn't a good idea: some plants are edible, but others can be poisonous. Your veterinarian can provide you with a list of plants that are harmful to pets, including Aloe Vera, tomato plants, rhododendron, English Ivy, and mistletoe. Instead of leaving these, or any plants, on ground level, hang them from the ceiling. Chances are your puppy wont figure out how to use a ladder.

Puppy proofing your home can take time and money. But, its worth it all in the end. It helps us keep our best friend safe, which speaks to those of us who know that there is no such thing as just a dog.

Home Away From Home: Benefits Of Condos Over Hotels And Rvs

Most parents of school-age children are forced to confine their family vacations to summer months, Christmas holiday and Spring break. Other families can choose to take their vacations at any time that is appropriate to their personal preferences.

When people consider their vacation or weekend getaways, few understand the true range of options they really do have available to them. Many people think their only options for lodging on vacation is limited to: hotels, motels, cabins, RVs, travel trailers, and tents. But the truth is that there are a few more options that most people never even consider.

Condominiums, also referred to as Condos, are another great lodging option to consider. But, just speaking the word Condo brings to mind for many the concept of Time Share Condos. Of course, that is one option with a Condo, but we are going to look at the other options as well.

Condominium Residency Arrangements

A condominium, very literally, is very similar to an apartment. It is a fully self-contained living arrangement, with a living area, bedrooms, private balconies, and a full kitchen; and most condos contain all of the amenities, including big screen televisions, DVD players, high-speed Internet access, and other creature comforts we generally have in our homes, such as washers and dryers. Many condos also have hot tubs or Jacuzzis in the apartments.

Condos are basically full apartments, located in areas of prime real estate, such as Las Vegas on the Strip, or many other locations around the world on beachfront property. Condos generally provide additional benefits such as swimming pools, weight rooms, restaurants, and other high-value goodies.

We are going to look at four types of Condo purchase arrangements in this section.

1. Condominium Ownership Condo ownership costs include the purchase price of the apartment and yearly fees to cover maintenance costs.

2. Condominium Timeshares With a timeshare, the basic concept is that more people can afford them, because the cost of ownership is split among several owners on a per week basis. When someone buys a timeshare, they are buying a 1/52nd ownership of the Condo for a specific, pre-designated calendar week. With a timeshare, one is entitled to take over the property beginning on a specific calendar date, and they must vacate the property at the end of the week.

3. Condominium Rentals Instead of timesharing a condo, many people opt to rent a condo, which frequently requires a purchase of a specific weekly period, although many condos provide flexibility so that you can decide which week you would like to rent. Some condo owners will allow individuals to rent by the day, but those have a much lower availability, than the condos that rent by the week. More on this later in this article.

4. The Dreaded Seminar Timeshare Some companies are so desperate to find people to listen to their sales message that they are willing to put prospects up in a timeshare condo for the weekend or week, so long as the person(s) agrees to attend a specific number of sales presentations during their stay.

Benefits of Condos Over Hotels

The greatest benefit of condominiums over hotels is two-fold.

First, condos are fully self-contained, providing kitchens, spacious living and all of the luxuries of home to their guests. Many also provide high-speed Internet and data access to their business-class guests. For many folks, the full kitchen is the greatest advantage of a condo, in that, they will not have to eat nearly every meal in a restaurant, enabling the vacationer to spend his or her money on attractions rather than on restaurant foods.

The second greatest benefit for condominiums is three-fold: location, location, and location. Condos are generally located on some of the best prime real estate properties in the world. For example, City Center in Las Vegas is located on the Strip between the Bellagio Hotel and Casino and the New York, New York Hotel and Casino. Beachfront condos exist in nearly every major beach destination in the world. Condos are available in San Francisco, Chicago, NYC, Atlanta and Miami, just to name a few metropolitan locations. And locations are not restricted to U.S. destinations; in fact, condos are available in nearly every travel destination of the world.

Benefits of Condos Over RVs and Travel Trailers

RVs are nice, but considering the cost of fuel these days, they are seldom a great option for most travelers. A friend of mine recently priced a RV for a planned family vacation, and he found the cost for eight days would easily exceed one thousand dollars, plus mileage over 200 miles, plus fuel. At eight miles per gallon, his planned trip of 500 miles one-way would have easily translated into 125 gallons of gasoline and more than $400, just in fuel costs, at current fuel prices.

Sure, the RV is still more spacious than a car during a long road trip, but for the cost, renting a Cadillac for the trip might just make more sense. Given the claustrophobic nature of his wife, he felt that train or airplane might make more sense for his roundtrip transportation needs.

Transportation costs aside, the travel trailer and RV are both generally a bit confining in the space considerations. Certainly, the RV beats the travel trailer hands down in this department, most of the time, but when you consider the stress of stuffing a family of five with three young children into a RV, there is never enough space available for the sanity of the parents.

Benefits Over the Great Outdoors

With smaller travel trailers, travelers are still stuck with cooking outdoors. Sure, the travel trailer might be easier than the tent to set up, but travel trailers usually have small kitchens, if they even have a kitchen at all. Cooking outdoors for a family is more of a challenge than many in todays world want to consider.

The limited amount of refrigerated storage is another area that is usually greatly strained with the use of the average travel trailer or tent camping experience. Going into the woods with a ice chest is fine for an afternoon trip, but once that trip expands beyond the life of the ice in the chest, then food options drop off considerably. This is the greatest cause of stress for people planning such trips. They always need to manage how they can maximize their food store, within very limited-size refrigerated storage containers.

In todays modern world, it is frequently impossible to escape the reliance we have come to have for modern technology. This leads to a need for power supplies that can accompany the traveler, to keep them plugged into their gadgets. Tents and small travel trailers do not accommodate this need in many instances.

The Purpose of Vacations Is Rest and Relaxation, Which Is Sometimes Lost

For many of us, the purpose of a vacation is rest and relaxation. But, as we have seen above, the challenges of taking long trips can sometimes produce more stress than relaxation.

Another friend told me that he was very much relieved when his parents decided not to take any more summer vacations for the family. He said that by the end of the first day, every member of his family was ready to strangle the other. By the end of day two of their six-day traveling vacations, everyone wanted to go home, but his dad was stubborn to a fault. His family had tried nearly all of the above options: tents, travel trailers, RVs, hotels and motels.

Even today, twenty years later, he cannot fathom a family vacation like his parents took, without his blood pressure going up. A few years back, he had tried the condominium rental route, and he has never looked back.

He told me that for him and his young family, the only vacation choice they will ever take advantage of is the condo rentals. He said the money he saves by not going to restaurants, generally covers the extra costs of the condominium. He said the enjoyment that he and his family experience, is far greater than what it would be if they forced themselves to live in a hotel room for a week. He said the extra goodies that the condos generally provide help him to give his family a much more rounded and robust experience. He says the added space and convenience of the condo experience permits him and his wife to relax more during their out-of-state vacations.

Making a Great Vacation Even Better

I am in the business of providing wholesale travel packages to the consumer market. I got into this business myself, because I love to travel with my family. Because I am able to save so much money on my own travel, it enables me to take my family on more trips and vacations than I had previously thought I could do.

The one thing I love most about my job is that I can give others the power to do as I do. I set my friend up with a discount condo card package, and now he is able to get his condominium rentals for much less than he was previously able to do. Depending on his trip destinations, he was generally paying $650 to $2500 for one week in his choice destination.

When I was able to hook him up with the discount condo card package, he paid one small upfront fee to my company of $250 for the condo card. On one trip, he stayed in a five-star condo resort and was able to get the condo for a week at just about 25% of what it would have cost him to rent it at retail cost. On another trip, he was able to stay in a beachfront condo for one week, and it only cost him the taxes that were due on the condo for his one-week stay, a whopping $199.

All told, my friend has so far taken two one-week vacations, and between plane tickets and condo costs, he has only spent about half of what he spent on his previous trip, the one he took before I set him up to take advantage of the travel packages I sell.

The Greatest Reward

The greatest reward for me in what I do, is knowing how I am able to help people get more out of life for less money than what they would spend on their own, without my help.

In conclusion, let me ask you two very important questions. First, how much did you spend on your last family vacation or weekend getaway? And secondly, how much are you going to have to spend on your next family vacation or weekend getaway?

Natural Mineral Cosmetics: Simplified Application

Youve seen them, china doll perfect with flawless skin, adorably kissed with dewy fresh makeup applied with the lightest of touch to impart a glow only an airbrush could possibly contrive. And you know they probably spent three hours on the eye shadow on their left eye, alone.

Shhhhhhh I have a secret. She probably didnt spend more than fifteen minutes, but she had the right tools and the right cosmetics. With Natural Cosmetics, mineral make up made with finely micronized titanium dioxide; you too can have that flawless complexion, dewy and fresh as a sun-kissed daisy on a summer morning.

Natural cosmetics are becoming more and more popular as many cosmetic companies are replacing their regular heavy oil packed liquid make-up with mineral make-up. Mineral makeup lasts longer, is readily available, doesnt leak, and offers a much simpler application process than liquid makeup. Natural cosmetics last all day long, without feeling heavy, weighing you down, or streaking, like liquids. And the very best part, it doesnt take a rocket scientist to apply them in the morning.

Its easy to achieve perfection; just follow these simplified directions:

Start with a clean moisturized face. Dampen your face with a few spritzes of mineral water from an atomizer. Blot with a very soft cloth (do not rub completely dry). Sprinkle a small amount of mineral foundation in the lid of your powder container and swish brush lightly, tap, apply in small circular motions all over face. (Use a feather light touch! Youll need to redip your brush five times for complete coverage.) Apply eye shadow with a foam applicator to contour of eyes. Apply blusher in the hollows of your cheeks, lightly; you dont need much! Dip large brush in translucent powder and lightly blend over face. Use fluffing motion to keep application very light and blending. Apply eyeliner just behind lashes, very carefully over top of eye shadow. Apply mascara to lashes and separate. Apply lipstick with a lip brush and gloss lightly.

Youre so gorgeous! Yes, that stunning reflection in the mirror is definitely you delicately touched with color, and china doll perfect.

Mineral makeup is good for your skin. It allows your skin to breath, absorbing necessary oxygen for youth and refreshment. Natural cosmetics fill up the tiny lines in your skin, cover blemishes, and protect you from damaging sunrays with a high SPF and natural coverage to keep UVA and UVB rays from your skin. Mineral makeup offers many benefits, and you dont get brown liquid foundation on your favorite white blouse.

You can leave your makeup case at home; you wont need a touch up all day. A bit of gloss in your purse and youre ready to go.

For an evening out on the town, a bit of mineral makeup glitter sprinkled liberally across your shoulders and just a hint across your cheeks should dress you up appropriately!

Is it Safe For You To Join the Ranks of the Millions of Online Daters?

According to CBC, there are over 40 million visitors to online dating sites in the US and 7 million in Canada. Although these numbers may seem staggering, there are millions of other still who are hesitant to delve into the world of dating online. Why is this? What are the real risks of online dating? How can you keep yourself safe on and offline?

The first, and one of the most important rules is to never reveal any personal information, especially on a public profile where anyone with the internet can access it. Personal information of this nature includes real names, addresses, phone numbers, and any other sensitive information, especially banking or financial information. Contact information, like phone numbers and addresses should only be given to people once a certain level of trust and regular communication has been established. When dating online, protecting sensitive personal information that others can use to get access to money, personal files, and so on, can help protect your finances, and personal safety.

Meeting people from online dating sites face to face is also often perceived as quite risky. While there certainly are risks involved with meeting new people, certain safety precautions can, and should, be taken. For example, always meet in a public place, and keep a cell phone with you at all times. Tell a friend where you're going, and who with. It's also a good idea to designate a check in time, where you'll call a friend to tell them where you are and how things are going, and let them know you're safe.

Many people who stay away from dating online do so because of the perceived risks of meeting strangers over the internet. Though there certainly are risks to online dating, proper safety precautions and awareness of risks and strategies can help minimize these risks and make dating online a safe and enjoyable experience.

American Express Travel Says Mammoth, California Is Great Fun In Both Summer And Winter

American Express Vacations affirms one of the most popular vacation spots for adventure travelers is Mammoth, California. This year round resort offers travelers a wide variety of activities and entertainment. Mammoth is also surprisingly luxuriousoffering several spas, fine dinning choices and upscale lodging. Mammoth is a great choice for vacationers who wish to experience the rugged beauty of the Californian Sierras and relax in elegant resorts.

Winter in Mammoth

Wintertime is one of the most popular seasons for travelers according to American Express Travel. In fact, Mammoth made its name as a winter resort. The name Mammoth actually refers to the large ski slope, which was so large, it was referred to as Mammoth Slope. Thus, the area retained that name. The near by town is called Mammoth Lakes. The town is little more than a village, with a permanent population at about 500. However, the winter population is often ten times that. Mammoth Lakes actually has more condos than stores or restaurants. These condos can be rented on a weekly basis and range in price. The average price for a weekly condo in the winter is about $2000. Mammoth also offers several luxury resorts, including the Mammoth Inn, which is literally across the street from the most popular ski slope. For more conservative travelers, there are a number of budget inns and motels.

Summer in Mammoth

Despite the booming winter business of skiing, Mammoth is also quite popular in the summer time. There are a number of American Express Travel Deals in the early part of the summer before the crowds come in. Early June is best for weather and availability. Again, there are a number of options for accommodations in the summer, with more availability in the condos. Prices are also marginally less.

The travel attractions during the summer season are different than the winter season. Although there is no snow for the skiing masses, adventure travel enthusiast still flock to this location. From the Mammoth Inn, travelers can purchase bus tickets to be taken to Devils Post Pile National Monument for $7.00 per person. This provides access to a number of scenic areas, including the geological wonder, Devils Post Pile, the gorgeous Rainbow Falls and the peaceful Reds Meadow. The bus stops at ten different locations, and the traveler must hike from where the bus parks to see the sights. The hike to Devils Post Pile is pretty mild, and most people say its not that difficult. The hike to the top of the monument is quite strenuous, and is not recommended for the elderly or children with asthma, however. The hike to Rainbow Falls is also quite strenuous, as is the continuation to the Lower Falls. Make sure to bring at least two 12 ounce bottles if you plan to do more than Devils Post Pile. Reds Meadow is quite breathtaking, but is a longer and strenuous hike, but the view is worth it.

With so much to see and do, it is no surprise that the active traveler is attracted to Mammoth Mountain. American Express Travel offers a number of packages that include some guided hikes and tours, combined with some of the best accommodations in Mammoth Lakes. Find out why active travelers love Mammoth!

Black & White CZ Jewelry Combines Classic Contrast With Modern Style

For some time now, one of the hottest trends in jewelry has been that of the black and white diamond combination. From rings to earrings and pendants to bracelets, this classic color combo has quickly become a popular fashion statement in fine jewelry. For those who know jewelry prices, choosing these designs can often mean letting go of some serious cash. However, for the woman who enjoys keeping up with current trends without spending a fortune, cubic zirconia designs may be the way to go.

So, just what makes the black and white diamond combination such a popular trend in jewelry? Its simple. The black and white color combo has long been a classic in apparel, which makes it only natural that this trend would translate over into the world of high-end jewelry design. The beauty of diamonds, however, is the fact that they can be worn as both formal and casual accessories. You may also be glad to know that the same is true with cubic zirconia designs. Whether you are pairing your jewelry with a formal dress, a business suit or your favorite white t-shirt and jeans, you will look stunning. If you really want to shine, consider placing a simulated diamond pin into your hairstyle by attaching it to a band and situating it in such a way that it looks like a hair accessory.

One of the greatest benefits of cubic zirconia jewelry is that you can wear it every day and not have to worry about it in the same way as you would a genuine diamond accessory. For instance, if you purchase a sterling silver ring featuring black and white cubic zirconia, you are getting the look of a diamond ring without spending a large amount of money. If you were to remove this ring to wash your hands and accidentally leave it behind in a public restroom, you wouldnt be nearly as upset as if it were a genuine diamond ring that you had just left behind. Sure, you love the ring and you will miss it. But, can you replace it easier than the same design in genuine diamonds? Probably so, and the reason is because cubic zirconia jewelry is much more affordable.

Just like genuine diamonds, cubic zirconia designs are available in both sterling silver and gold. Many who enjoy the black and white gemstone color combination prefer a white metal, such as sterling silver, because of how it appears when paired with this trendy duo. Sterling silver, itself, is a reflective metal that imitates white gold and/or platinum. When paired with black and white simulated diamonds, the look becomes the perfect marriage of classic meets modern in this trendy design.

Almost Diamonds, a popular online retailer specializing in sterling silver jewelry, has a complete line of items featuring cubic zirconia and genuine gemstones in a variety of styles to choose from. If you are looking to maximize your jewelry collection without minimizing your wallet, consider the affordable option of sterling silver. Not only is this a precious metal thats designed to last forever, but it also is an economical way to get the look of diamonds in platinum or white gold without spending a fortune.

Successful UK Visa Appeal For Danny

When a Surrey Nursing Home owner was granted a Work Permit for an in country Senior Care worker in September 2004 little did he know that it would take nearly two years before the Carer could start work.

The Home owner successfully arranged a two year work permit for a male Senior Carer. The candidate, Danny, who was in the UK on a visitors visa at the time, was denied Leave to Remain following the tightening of the rules on switching in October 2004.

Bison UK (http://www.recruitnurse.com) took up his case and asked the Home Office to review their decision on two occasions over an eight month period. In both cases the Home Office refused to change their original decision. Danny had no option but to return home to his country in July 2005.

Bison UK were not giving up on Dannys case. They successfully obtained a new out of Country work permit and helped in applying for entry clearance at his local British Consulate.

He was subjected to a gruelling interview by an Entry Clearance Office (ECO) who naturally picked up on the point that he had over-stayed his original visitors visa by some months and went on to accuse him of working whilst in the UK. Although he tried to explain that he had only stayed whilst the Home Office were reviewing his case and holding his passport, the ECO refused to listen.

Danny also pointed out that he was supported by several relatives during his time in the UK, but the ECO just fired more questions at Danny until they had him tied up in knots. By the end of the interview Danny felt like hed been 'on trial for murder'. The ECO refused to believe any of his story and denied his application for entry clearance (visa).

Danny was devastated by this latest setback and immediately contacted Charles Kelly, Managing Director of Bison UK.

After reviewing the refusal decision Charles felt it was worth referring to an appeal specialist. He contacted a level 3 adviser with years of experience in handling entry clearance appeals, who agreed with Charles that the case was worth fighting.

Bison UK fights on

With the support of his employer and family Danny decided to go ahead with the appeal. Charles put the case together and instructed the appeal specialist to lodge the appeal.

Dealing with an appeal is a long and complicated process and not just a matter of filling in a form attached to the refusal decision.

Many people make the mistake of thinking that all you have to do is ask for an appeal and then sit back and wait for a decision.

Nothing could be further from the truth.

Appeals are now heard in the UK, so the whole case gets sent back to the Asylum and Immigration Tribunal (AIT). The AIT will then request the appeal bundle, which includes skeleton argument, statements and evidence related to the case. All of this can take three or four months and involves a considerable amount of work. Charles and his advisers spent many a late night preparing Dannys case and going over all the statements and arguments.

After this a hearing is set, which in this instance was at Taylor House in London, for the case to be heard by a judge at the AIT. By the time we got to the AIT, it was now almost eight months after Danny's visa refusal.

Our day in court

On the day of the hearing, 6th April 2006, Charles and his advisers met Dannys relatives and employer at Taylor House and searched for Dannys name among the hundreds of cases being heard that day. The AIT handles thousands of cases each year at ten centres around the UK, including two in London.

The case was set to be heard at 10am, however, the Home Office representative requested more time to prepare her case and we were told to come back around 11.00 and were eventually called at 11.30.

Although not a formal court room setting with wigs and gowns, the experience of walking into a tribunal is still daunting and intimidating. The decisions made within the walls of Taylor House have a lasting effect on the appellants lives.

We saw many families turn up on behalf of relatives with no legal representation. As they fumbled around from desk to desk they looked like lambs going to the slaughter. They were most likely about to be eaten alive in the jungle of laws and legal precedents.

45 Minutes to make or break your life

The judge dealing with Dannys case seemed businesslike but pleasant and sat behind a large desk with opposing legal representatives sitting on either side. The room was just large enough for the desks and six chairs for witnesses. He interviewed all the witnesses and took notes during the 45 minute hearing. Not a very long time to decide Dannys fate.

The judge then thanked everybody and said he would inform all parties of his decision within four weeks. The hearing was over but the agonising wait for Danny was just starting.

Good News

A few weeks later, on 26th April, a letter arrived informing us that Dannys appeal had been successful.

We waited for the five days in which the Home Office could still lodge and appeal, and sent a copy of the decision to the British Consulate asking them to issue Dannys visa.

If Danny was expecting a call from the Embassy staff to say congratulations on your appeal Danny, come on down and get your visa, he was about to be disappointed again.

In fact it took several faxes, emails and phone calls before the Embassy would even acknowledge the appeal decision.

Bison Management UK were still chasing the Embassy on 16th May, as they said they had not received a copy of the AITs decision. The Embassy still gave Danny a hard time and only issued the visa after insisting he obtained a new work permit, which caused further delays.

Danny eventually arrived in the UK on 15th June 2006, over six weeks after receiving the AITs decision and almost two years after he first got the job. Danny was lucky that he had the support of his employer and that the vacancy still existed. Most employers would have given up on him.

The majority of the hundreds of thousands of people denied visas each year will inevitably give up or lose the job because the employer cannot afford to wait.

The figures show that over 25% of refusals are successfully overturned on appeal, so take advice before throwing in the towel. Professional advice is essential.

Jewelry Basics: Getting The Best Fit Possible

When you shop for jewelry, its important to look for more than just the latest trend or the piece with the smallest price tag. While both style and price are important, its also essential that you choose the best fit for your body. This article is designed to show you how.

Determining Your Ring Size

If you dont already know your ring size, dont fret. The process is simple and, best of all, it will only take a few moments of your time. Your first step is to cut a strip of paper thats approximately 5" in length and 1" in width. Next, take the strip of paper and wrap it around the finger that you want to size. Using a pen, mark the point on the paper where the ends meet. Next, take a ruler and measure the distance from the edge of the paper to your pen mark and compare it to the list below:

* If your finger measures 1-7/8" in circumference, you should wear a size 4
* If your finger measures 2" in circumference, you should wear a size 5
* If your finger measures 2-1/8" in circumference, you should wear a size 6
* If your finger measures 2-1/4" in circumference, you should wear a size 7
* If your finger measures 2-3/8" in circumference, you should wear a size 8
* If your finger measures 2-1/2" in circumference, you should wear a size 9

As a general rule, each 1/8" in circumference translates into one full ring size. Using this simple method, you can easily discover the size for any finger on your hand.

Choosing The Perfect Clasp

There are many different types of clasps, including lobster claw, spring ring, toggle, slide insert safety, magnetic, etc. Whether you are choosing a necklace, bracelet or even an anklet, its important to know which clasp will work best for you.

A spring ring clasp is the smallest of all clasps and is typically reserved for fine link chains. This type of clasp is not recommended for heavier weight jewelry, unless it is an oversized spring ring thats capable of supporting the chains weight.

A lobster claw clasp is one of the more popular clasps for use on jewelry of substance. Its fairly easy to open and is a stronger variation of the spring ring clasp. A lobster claw clasp may cost a little more than a spring ring clasp, but you will have the benefit of added peace of mind for your heavier jewelry.

A magnetic clasp is just as it sounds - a clasp that attaches with the help of a magnet. This is one of the easiest and most popular designs in jewelry today. Its simple, effortless design is ideal for anyone whose in a hurry and doesnt have time to fuss with a clasp, or for anyone who has trouble with traditional clasps. Even if your jewelry doesnt already have a magnetic clasp, many manufacturers offer extenders that attach to either a spring ring or lobster claw in order to convert your otherwise traditional clasp into a magnetic clasp.

Necklace Knowhow

When shopping for a necklace, its important to choose the right length for your intended wear. For instance, a shorter 16" of 17" necklace is ideal for a blouse or dress with a lower neckline. This allows for your jewelry to be showcased without getting tangled up in your outfit. If you are wearing a turtleneck, an 18" to 24" necklace will be perfect for showcasing your favorite pendants without getting lost in the fold of your sweater.

If you find yourself in a situation where you simply dont have the right length for your outfit, consider purchasing an extender to add some length to your necklace. If what you need, on the other hand, is a shorter length, it may be possible depending on your style of necklace. A rolo chain, for instance, can easily be shortened by simply fastening the clasp into one of the links to make the necklace shorter.

Not only is this a precious metal thats designed to last forever, but it also is an economical way to get the look of platinum or white gold without spending a fortune.

Planning A Cruise Getaway

A cruise getaway can be a great vacation for both family and couple. Some cruise companies even come out with different packages catering particularly for families or for lovers. If you are planning a cruise getaway, there are really plenty to choose from and you should take your time and look around for the right cruise company. Here are some tips that can help you.

Avoid Peak Season

Cruise is not a cheap vacation. A family cruise getaway can easily cost you more than $1000-$2000. Cruise package for couples will cost you about $600-$800. Also, the price difference between peak and non-peak season vary by about 30%. To save your cruise expenses, the first thing you should do is to avoid the peak seasons and always on a look out for special offers. Don't plan your vacation last minute, especially cruise because you will always get the more expensive deal if you are doing some last minute work. Instead, plan at least 3 months in advance and always on a look out for special deals and offers. This will help you to save a big deal.

Cruise for family

If you are planning a cruise getaway for family, you should look for family friendly cruises. These cruises should offer built in kid's play areas and other kids facilities. These are child friendly areas where you can leave your kids with qualified child care staff while you take time out to indulge yourself and relax. The best thing is the kids won't mind since they will have a lot of activities to keep them entertained. Another great thing about a family cruise is that you stop at many different locations but you do not have to worry about airport checks or finding your luggages. You simply stop for the day and enjoy the sites with your family. In the evenings you go back to your cruise ship and the fun doesn't stop there. There is lots to do and see on board.

Cruise for lovers

A lovers cruise is undoubtedly the perfect getaway for you and your partner. Some cruises are tailor-made for couples and the package come with complementary champagne, VIP treatment and free access to the shore excursions of your choice. Some popular destinations include the Caribbean and the Galapagos due to their hot and sexy appeal. For couples who prefer a bit of adventure you can get a cruise to Mexico where you can experience ancient history and long buried treasures. Even if you just decide to stay on the cruise itself, there are many things you can do. You can relax by the pool and sunbathe the day away or experience the entire range of entertainment available during both day and night.

Getting a last minute cruise

To certain extend, last minute cruise deals are great value for money. You may finish up paying less for a last minute cruise than if you were to book several months earlier. However, there is a risk attached to getting a last minute cruise. Your chosen cruise ship might be sold out, or the price might not fall to the level that you had hoped for, or the cheaper cabin may be sold out and you have no choice but to get the more expensive cabin. If you are not planning for some special occasion, it is okay to ahead risking and getting some real good deal in a last minute cruise. But if you are planning for some special occasion, it is better to book the cruise way in advance because the cruise operators usually offer generous discounts to secure forward bookings.

Tips for cheap cruise

Let's say if you only a budget of $250 dollars, what can you do with your money? Well you can try a 3 or 4 night cheap cruise around the Bahamas. These cruises leave frequently from Port Canaveral and Miami, Florida. The cruise is completely luxurious meaning you can relax to your hearts content. If you reside on west America, you can spend your $250 on a 4-night cruise to Mexico. These cruises include the ports of Catalina Island and Ensenada on the Baja peninsula and Long Beach in California.

By preparing ahead and asking all the relevant questions, it will be easier to choose the right cruise vacation for your family or your loved one.

Which Government Websites Have Product Recall Information?

There is no one government agency in charge of issuing recall notices for all products. Instead, different products fall under different jurisdictions, each of which is handled by a completely separate agency. In this article we will explain the jurisdiction of each of the six major government agencies in charge of recalling products and issuing recall alerts.

Food and Drug Administration (FDA) - http://www.fda.gov:
The FDA is probably most thought of when the word recall comes up. It is obvious that the FDA deals with food and drug issues, but they are also in charge of testing, monitoring and recalling medical devices (pacemakers, contact lenses...), animal feed, cosmetics, and products with the potential to cause health-related side effects, such as cell phones and lasers. Although the FDA is in charge of food, they also share that responsibility with the next federal agency

United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) - http://www.usda.gov:
The USDA was founded by President Abraham Lincoln in 1862, and has been involved in a variety of agricultural initiatives ever since. Not only is the USDA steward to our nation's 192 million acres of national forests, and providing food to children through school breakfast and lunch programs, but the agency is also responsible for the safety of meat, poultry (including egg), milk and fish products. These responsibilities often encompass the study of pesticide use, which overlaps with the next governmental recall arm...

Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) - http://www.epa.gov:
The EPA, in addition to the many other responsibilities involved in protecting our environment, are charged with the recalling of products that threaten to harm humans, animals, or the environment in which we live. For instance, recently the EPA ordered five national retail chains to recall a brand of spray confetti string which contained banned hydro chlorofluorocarbons blamed for depleting the ozone layer. This very same product could have also been recalled by another government agency, however, for its highly flammable contents, which are often sprayed over people at birthday parties near flaming candles. The agency that would be responsible for this type of recall is...

Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) - http://www.cpsc.gov:
The CPSC is in charge of protecting the public from "unreasonable risks of serious injury or death from more than 15,000 types of consumer products under the agency's jurisdiction". They handle recalls for a host of potentially dangerous products, from toys with choking hazards to heaters with propensity to start a fire. Most products with a defect of some kind will find their way into the CPSC database of recalled consumer products. But if that product has wheels and an engine, or is a part of a product that has wheels and an engine, you might be better off researching at the next governmental agency...

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) - http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov:
The NHTSA was established to reduce deaths, injuries and economic losses resulting from motor vehicle crashes. They set and enforce safety standards for motor vehicles and vehicle parts, and provide studies and reports on anything related to motor vehicle use, from tires and seatbelts, to SUVs and cell phone use while driving. If you want to know if the used car you just purchased has any defective auto parts, the NHTSA database is a good start. However, if you just purchased a used boat, the following agency is better suited for your needs...

US Coast Guard - http://www.uscg.mil:
You probably dont think of product recalls when someone mentions the Coast Guard. However, in addition to their duties to patrol Americas coast line and assist those in distress, the Coast Guard also tests, reports on, and recalls boats, boating parts, and marine safety devices like flares and life jackets. But good luck finding recall information on the Coast Guards website!

As you can see, the responsibilities of each agency overlap to some degree with other agencies. Furthermore, issuing recall alerts is only a small part of each organizations responsibility. This is why is can be difficult, time-consuming and frustrating to locate the information youre looking for among these six websites. Luckily, this problem has been remedied by an ex-journalist with a passion for social corporate responsibility and citizen journalism

US Recall News http://www.usrecallnews.com:
US Recall News is a non-governmental website that brings together recall alerts from each of the six major government agencies listed above, and separates them into various categories. The alerts are then archived at the end of each month, and remain searchable from the website.

Floral Art Tapestries In The Modern Home

If you are interested in adding an elegant touch to your home dcor without losing your contemporary edge, you might want to consider decorating your walls with floral tapestries. These classic works of art use various plants and flower arrangements to convey a timeless serenity, while at the same time allowing one the flexibility of incorporating modern accents into a design theme.

The right still life tapestry can blend seamlessly with a rooms furniture and accessories (such as lamps and other lighting fixtures), while at the same time providing the perfect visual enhancement to offset contemporary surroundings. Floral tapestries have a way of establishing a sense of balance in a room, perhaps because they remind us of an inherent need to be grounded in the natural and organic.

Why Are Flowers Contemporary?

At first glance, its easy to understand why some floral tapestries may almost seem unsuitable for the modern home. After all, many elaborate original tapestries were woven in centuries past and now reside in historical European museums. Cultures all over the world have embraced floral still life art for centuries in different ways, for different reasons.

But one could also argue that it is precisely this diversity of appreciation that has lent itself well to contemporary applications. Keep in mind that modern interior design tends to focus on creating space and light. If you choose a floral tapestry with bright and natural colors, the openness of the contemporary theme is highlighted.

Another way to understand the appeal of floral still life in contemporary culture is to understand the complex philosophical and sociological issues the modern world faces. For many, a floral tapestry can offer a metaphorical glimpse into the human condition. Flowers are often viewed as representing an inescapable frailty, while simultaneously providing a sense of hope and optimism.

A Wide Assortment of Choices

Incorporating floral still life tapestries into your contemporary design theme does not mean that you have to sacrifice individuality when developing a modern feel. In fact, quite the opposite is true.

The open, airy nature of many modern and post-modern themes means that the tapestry you choose can reflect whatever you want it to reflect. There are so many combinations and choices available on the market that you should have no problem finding a piece that not only encompasses your personality and individual style, but also retains the spacious, open characteristics of contemporary design.

The Ivy Column

Consider a portrait such as the Ivy Column tapestry, which combines all the significant elements of contemporary design into a vivid display of ambient surrealism. Sunlight shines on a country house with a stunning array of colorful foliage surrounding it.

The inclusion of the pond in this portrait only further solidifies the sense that all forms of nature are represented in the piece. In essence, this piece has it all that is, something for everyone.

Complexity in Openness

A range of complex personalities can be accurately represented in pieces such as the Ivory Mural tapestry, the Floral Decadence tapestry, and the classic Directoire tapestries. These remarkable works of art manage to capture the bright, cheerful colors associated with many contemporary designs, yet the intricate floral patterns and organic settings are likely to inspire and challenge the thinking persons awareness for years to come.

Beauty in Simplicity

On the other hand, some people believe less is more an equally valid assertion in modern design preferences. The Prestige (Dawn) tapestry and the Prestige (Midday) tapestry are both perfect examples of how the focus on a simple tree can speak volumes.

These tapestry portraits allow the imagination to run wild in the fantasy world depicted by the artists who developed them. The natural landscapes depicted in these pieces exist nowhere in the actual world, yet it is not at all difficult to image that they could. The viewer is drawn in to the simplicity of a single tree, yet the artist manages to capture other faint still life images of birds and plant life in the background. The approach is both subtle and effective.

Combining the Simple and the Complex

Perhaps among the most effective representations in floral tapestries are those which draw upon all of the elements we have discussed. For example, the Classical Rose tapestry is conceptually straightforward in essence, a vase of roses. Upon deeper examination, however, it becomes clear that the artists use of light and choice of background provide a depth and clarity to the piece that touches the soul on a much more substantive level.

Modern Dcor and Floral Tapestries

The elegant yet uncomplicated concept of a flower arrangement has been the motif of many still life artists throughout time. These works have been faithfully reproduced in the tapestry world, and they represent an incredible assortment of selections one can employ when developing a contemporary design theme. Floral still life tapestries can contribute to the bright and spacious nature of modern design, while at the same time providing viewers with an intriguing experience that requires an intensity of concentration to fully comprehend and appreciate.

12 Hair Care Tips For Any Length and Style

Regardless of its length or style, we all want one thing: a healthy, great looking head of hair. But the first step to having healthy, luxurious hair is to know its exact type. Is it oily, dry or normal? It your hair naturally curly or straight? Are you troubled by dandruff? Has your hair been processed in some way? Is it brittle or strong? Knowing your true starting point will allow you to better care for your hair and keep it looking its absolute best.

With short hairstyles, its important to protect your hair and your scalp every time you are in the sun. Look for protective styling products, and be sure to wear a hat to avoid sunburn. If your hair is short and curly, you should know that curly hair tends to break easier and needs more moisture than other types of hair.

The key to keeping medium-length to long hair beautiful and healthy looking is to protect it from split ends and becoming brittle. The longer hair is, the heavier it is, and as a result, more prone to breakage. If you have long or medium-length hair, never use a rubber band to pull your hair back into a ponytail as they can pull and damage hair. Instead, use a something elastic that is covered in a soft cloth to avoid breaking the delicate hair shafts.

Here are a few simple dos and donts to remember for every length and style of hair :

6 Essential Hair Care Dos :

- Do gently brush your hair each night before going to bed as it will stimulate blood flow to your scalp and promote healthy hair growth.

- Do be sure to hold the hair dryer at least six to eight inches away from your hair and keep it moving at all times to avoid scorching the hair.

- Do gently wash your hair using a mild shampoo suitable for your type of hair with lukewarm water.

- Do use a conditioner to keep your hair manageable, healthy, and free of tangles.

- Do be sure to drink plenty of water and follow a balanced diet. Many people arent aware of the important role that proper nutrition plays regarding healthy hair care. Water is essential to keep your body and hair properly hydrated.

- Do try to avoid touching your hair unnecessarily as the oils from your hands can cause your hair to lose its luster and become dirtier faster.

6 Essential Hair Care Donts :

- Dont brush wet hair, use a comb instead to avoid pulling and risking breakage.

- Dont blow-dry your hair every day, the constant heat will cause it to become brittle and prone to breakage. Likewise, use your curling iron on the lowest possible setting.

- Dont over process your hair using strong dyes and chemicals. If you do relax your hair or have it permanently waved, be sure to wait as long as possible in between treatments to avoid over processing and damage.

- Dont change your hair color to more than three shades, in either direction, lighter or darker, to avoid excessive damage.

- Dont wash your hair in extra hot water, instead use warm, and use cool water for the final rinse.

- Dont allow stress to adversely affect your health, including your hair.

Cruise Travel Close To Home From The West Coast

Cruise travel from ports close to home is what passengers want now. In almost all of the cruise reviews, cruise travelers have expressed concern with long airline trips to distant lands. Now they want to cruise from ports that are close to home to enjoy a less stressful cruise vacation. The cruise lines have caught on to this trend and are now positioning their ships up and down the United States East and West Coasts and along the Gulf of Mexico. Let's explore the ports of embarkation on the West Coast starting in Southern California at the port of San Diego and go northward.

If you can take the time before or after your cruise travel, spend some extra time in San Diego. The city of San Diego is blessed with year round warm weather and seventy miles of Pacific Coastline. There are many activities to enjoy while in the city. They have a first class, world famous zoo in Balboa Park. At Old Town State Historic Park learn about the History of California. Near the downtown area there are 15 excellent museums and gorgeous gardens.

A little further up north is Long Beach just 20 miles south of Los Angeles. Here is where the Queen Mary retired to in 1967 and is permanently docked serving as a Hotel. With more 12,000 sea creatures the aquarium is a delightful spot to spend a couple of hours.

If you plan to take your cruise vacation out of Los Angeles there are plenty of sights to see. A pre or post cruise package from the cruise lines will allow you to see the many cultural centers or drive by the star studded neighborhoods of Malibu, Bel Air and Hollywood. Be sure to see Grauman's Chinese Theatre, Chinatown and the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Visit funky Venice Beach and dine in the many excellent restaurants. And don't forget to at least window shop on Rodeo Drive.

The dazzling Golden Gate Bridge will be what you sail under on you cruise vacation from San Francisco. Many cruise reviews have mentioned this city as one of the favorites from which to start a cruise. You may opt to take a side trip to the vineyards of Napa and Sonoma Valleys for a day. While in San Francisco check out Fisherman's Wharf, or take a cable car ride through the city. In this city there are numerous excellent restaurants. There is a ferry that will take you over to Alcatraz Island for a glimpse into the life of the prisoners.

Perhaps you have chosen Seattle, Washington as your embarkation port. The lovely Puget Sound area is rich with history of the maritime industries. The Olympic Mountains will leave you feeling awed when viewed from the Space Needle that is 607 feet high. For fun don't miss the Pike Street Market for fresh seafood and produce. There are many fleets of sport fishing boats for fishing or for whale watching.

Even further up the coast you are now in Alaskan territory. Fairbanks, which was once a booming mining town, is the entrance to Alaska's interior. If you stay here for a day or two try a really Alaskan adventure and go dog sledding. Maybe you would like to pan for gold, another part of Alaska's history. If you want to see the Northern Lights plan your cruise vacation for late August or early September.

Choosing a cruise vacation out of Whitter, Alaska will allow you to go whale watching, and look for sea lions and bald eagles. This is a small quaint town that really lets you feel what Alaska is all about.

You will fly into Anchorage for departure from Seward, Alaska. Try to stay a few days to explore the riches Anchorage has to offer. There is the beautiful Denali National Park, where Mt. McKinney offers spectacular scenery. In Seward you can take a cruise to the Kenai Fjords as a day trip.

Any of these cruise ports will make a great start for your cruise vacation. So when planning any cruise travel pick a port that's close to home and leave some time for exploring the town of embarkation.

Toy Boys And Gals

A friend of ours is moving in with her young stud. Lucky girl. She is in her thirties and he is in his twenties. The age gap is not so great as to be obscene but whilst we are used to seeing an older man with a younger woman, we're not so comfortable with it the other way round. In fact, the older woman is not sure whether to be embarrassed or victorious when breaking the news to her girlfriends.

So are there any disadvantages to a match such as this? Should she be concerned that he will leave her for a younger woman when she is in her forties or fifties? Or should her greatest concern be that they are at different stages in their lives? Are their priorities too different? He is still building his career and she is on top of hers. She only has a short period of time left to have a baby but is he too young to be starting a family? Does he really want to feel like a sperm donor at The Last Chance Saloon?

She is not alone in this dilemma. Most of our thirty-something girlfriends go out with younger men. They're the only men out there, they say. Or are they just going to the wrong places? My best friend and I can only seem to pull younger men (or men over 60 but we won't make an issue out of that.) We love youthful enthusiasm but are not so keen on the acne. So where are all the other men? At home with their wives, still in the office, in lap dancing bars?

Some of our men told us that they felt pressure from thirty-something women to have children before they were ready and that this is one of the reasons that they go out with younger women; the baby thing is not yet an issue with twenty-year old women. I wonder if, when these women get older, they will just be traded in for a younger model. Whereas younger men say this is one of the reasons they prefer older women, women in their forties, there's no pressure to have kids.

So why else do men like younger women? These are some of the reasons our men gave; younger women have pert, firmer bodies, they are less likely to have baggage in the shape of kids and ex-husbands, they are more easily impressed (interesting, will investigate further), they are more fun and carefree, they keep you feeling young, the relationship is more light-hearted and you are not seen as a prospective marriage candidate. By the way guys, this is not true; every man is assessed for his suitability, it is just that when you are twenty and deem a man unsuitable as a husband and father, you might have other more pressing uses for him! Most of these reasons imply that men are just reluctant to grow up; it is something some of them put off almost indefinitely.

And what does a young woman get out of a more mature man? Someone who can think of something more than beer and football? (Never going to happen). Security? Money? Power? We know that it is practically the law for every rich bloke to have a sports car in his driveway and a very young, cosmetically-enhanced girl by his side, Well, she might not be that young, it is sometimes hard to tell after surgery. Is it true that there is no such thing as an ugly rich man?

I had a relationship with a man 10 years older. The age gap didn't seem to make that much difference at the start. Although I admit that the first time he took his clothes off, I expected to be faced with a wrinkly, dried up old man. He wasn't, of course, he was only in his thirties! We had no similar points of reference. We had grown up in different decades. He was already very set in his ways and prone to falling asleep on the sofa after dinner - just like my Dad- and the longer we spent together, the wider the age gap seemed to get. Doomed? Not necessarily.

So back to older ladies and younger men. Marriage statistics now tell us that in the UK, the trend seems to be turning in favour of the older woman and the younger man. Is our friend enjoying some of the most energetic, if not most polished, sex of her life? And what does he get out of it? Someone to look after him, to mother him? A confidant woman, happy in her skin? (If one of these exists, please let me know who you are!) Someone who doesn't need to be looked after? Sex from someone who knows exactly what they are doing and what they want?

Or does age just not matter at all if you are in love? All together now, aahh.

Accounting Made Easy with Small Business Credit Cards

Jaded by a routine 9 to 5 job? Stifled by your thankless work? Have you bartered your dreams away for an emotionally unsatisfying life? If you have finally decided to wrench yourself free from your shackles, it is time to take stock financially and see how small business credit cards can actually help you in starting your and running your own business.

When you set out on this exciting new journey, you are likely to face a number of challenges, and with them, teething troubles. You can avoid such stress if you make good use of the various tools specially designed to assist entrepreneurs in their ventures. Small business credit cards are by far one of the most important accounting instruments made available to you.

Small Business Credit Cards are Valuable Accounting Tools

One of the major problems that small businesses face is detailed accounting of their monetary transactions. Finances of any business must be immaculate and readily presentable, and if you haven not done such accounting before, be prepared for a tough task.

Usually, a small business suffers from insufficient manpower. Business owners assume various roles and are often under tremendous pressure to perform efficiently in a frenetic race against time to meet deadlines. Thus, opportunity for human error creeps in. But when it comes to finances, even the minor errors can spell disaster for your new baby.

Small business credit cards offer an opportunity to ease this tension and minimize errors. Whenever a transaction is done through a small business credit card, it is automatically reflected in a monthly statement. Your books can then be easily updated on time with the help of these all-inclusive statements showing specific details. A thorough account of all purchases can easily be maintained in this manner.

Managing Your Business with Small Business Credit Cards

Small business credit cards generally offer features such as online banking and round-the-clock technical assistance. This is especially handy when it comes to bill payment, downloading data, viewing expense reports, redeeming points, and overall maintenance and monitoring of transactions.

Add-on Benefits of a Small Business Credit Card

Credit card companies have bettered the deal by offering additional benefits on small business credit cards. As a business owner, you cannot afford to ignore these benefits. For example, obtaining incrementally higher credit limits can provide you with additional liquidity when required and more opportunities to expand your business products and services.

A small business credit card can also have a cash back offer that entitles the cardholder to rebates on purchases made with collaborating businesses. The refund may be reflected on the customers account statement or just be provided by way of a periodic rebate check. Some cards also come with airline and travel reward incentives and you can even earn frequent flyer miles with your purchases that can also be redeemed for discounts and rewards.

Small business credit cards have revolutionized the way fledgling businesses approach finance. Card statements that are usually made available online can help remove tedious accounting paperwork. Small business credit cards empower even those with the most rudimentary knowledge of accounting, freeing them up to focus on growing their respective businesses.

How To Make The Most Of Your Free Online Dating Service

With millions of single people trying to find their match over the internet, it is often hard to stand out among the crowd unless of course you have the body of Eva Longoria or Brad Pitt.

And we cant all have Hollywood looks. (This is perhaps why some people resort to editing their photos on Photoshop in order to appear good in their profiles!)

Still, there are ways to make the most out of a free online dating site and make others take notice. The secret is to initiate action and to not just wait for people to view your profile and get to know you. Below are some tips that can help you make the most out of your online dating service account whether it is for free or not.

1. Make a Vavavoom profile!

Making a profile that is interesting and inviting does not mean that you have to invent some exotic name and out of this world experience. You and your life can be interesting too with just the right words. One advise is to write down things about you that is interesting. Do you have an interesting job or an interesting hobby? Have you gone to places and done things that may seem exciting for other people?

Include it in your profile. As much as you can, veer away from clich statements that are often seen in profiles in online dating sites. It can be tiring to see the same things written profiles. You can also include some funny stories or anecdotes that can serve as hook to your audience. This will make them remember you more.

Also, make sure that your profile is grammatically correct. Not only will this be an easy read for people but you will also come across as educated and refined.

2. Upload a nice photo

This does not mean that you will be putting photographs of your pretty cousin or your gorgeous brother on your profile. Search through your albums for a photo that you feel shows the best side of you. Often, the best photos are those where the subjects smiles widely. This is inviting for those people who are reading your profile.

Also, make sure that the photo that you upload is clear and distinct. If you are only putting some hazy shot with you meters away from the foreground; might as well leave it blank. Use a photo, which other people can see and study.

If you think you dont have much photo that is worth uploading, enlist the help of your friends and relatives. As much as possible, put a solo shot. If you dont have one, make sure that your caption can identify who you are in a group shot.

3. Break the ice

Using the online dating service does not end in writing a profile and uploading your favorite photo. Try to also search through the hundreds of singles for people who interest you. Once someone catches your eye, let him or her know. This is all done virtually so being rejected is not really as painful; so what the heck, take the plunge.

You can try writing a letter that states how you like their profile or what aspect of their site has caught your eye. Put on the letter your name. This makes the letter more personalized and more inviting for the person being sent to.

If you are too shy to actually write a letter, try putting a smiley sign or just plain hi! If the person you sent it to likes your profile, he or she will respond back with a hi. Be as polite as possible as some people who do this come across as potential stalkers such as those that write the words destined, soulmates, or love.

Remember that your letter is your way of making a great first impression so be on your best behavior.

Medieval Art: A Different Approach to Home Dcor

The Medieval era is the period in European history from the fall of Rome to the Italian Renaissance; from 476AD to 1450AD. During this time Europe went through a series of considerable changes, gradually laying the groundwork for elements of the Renaissance and later periods. During this time Art flourished and came to embrace Christianity.

Medieval art emerged from a blend of Roman art and German art, thrown together during the upheavals of the Middle Ages. Its distinct, gothic look owes much to both its influences, and very quickly developed along distinct lines.

It is this distinct element to it that makes it so striking and, even now, is a serious consideration for anyone looking for something unusual and striking for their home dcor and home accent choices.

Medieval Art

During the Middle Ages art often depicted scenes from everyday life, and at times was used to illustrate stories, fables and myths. There are a number of recurring themes seen in work from this time, including mythical beasts, a preoccupation with sense and perception, glorification of battles and the celebration of great dynasties.

Of particular importance was the emergence of religious symbolism; using art as a means to communicate complex metaphysical concepts such as love, redemption and forgiveness. Art rose to the challenge and the sheer breadth of the art produced is one of the main reasons the Gothic style remains an iconic and fundamental pillar of western art.

Now many are looking again at the art of the Middle Ages as an exciting and unusual addition to their home dcor options. With many possibilities, from quality prints to wall tapestries, they are being appreciated by more and more people looking for something a little different.

Medieval Prints

A great many famous works from the Middle Ages have been reproduced as prints and posters. Some of the best examples from history are now available, and are a real treasure trove of information as well as a unique piece of wall art.

One of the most popular is Les Vendanges (The Grape Harvest). Woven in the late 15th century it was designed to celebrate the annual wine harvest and it depicts the peasants gathering the grapes for use in wine making. The design includes the distinctive Mille Fleurs decoration typical of Medieval art.

During the Middle Ages art was commissioned by the wealthy and tended to reflect dramatic themes and religious symbolism. More rarely work was commissioned to depict everyday scenes, like Les Vendanges, offering a rare glimpse into life during Medieval times.

Although the original was a wall tapestry high quality prints lose none of the original texture and drama, and make an exceptional addition to any dcor scheme.

Medieval Wall Tapestries

Although prints enjoy a privileged position in home dcor popular Medieval art is increasingly available as luxury wall tapestries. The woven nature of tapestry art adds depth and texture to these already impressive works and makes a distinct alternative to framed art.

A growing number of wall tapestries are now available. A particularly impressive example are wall tapestries inspired by the illustrated Medieval work Les Tres Riches Heures (The book of hours). As the name suggests it was a collection of text for each liturgical hour of the day which often included other supplementary texts such as calendars, prayers, psalms and masses for holy days.

The original manuscript was painted by three brothers, Paul, Hermann and Jean Limbourg from Flanders, believed to have been born between 1370 and 1380. The work was completed between 1412 and 1416. These tapestries depict the illustration from the calendar texts for various months, each related to an event associated with the time of year such as harvesting.

Because wall tapestries are textile based the weave often helps lift the original work making for a quite dramatic piece of dcor. The best quality tapestries do an impressive job of not only reproducing the original detail, but add considerably to their charm and people can be quite taken aback at their distinctive nature.

Something for every taste

Nowadays many people are looking to Medieval art to add some charm and history to their home decor. With a vast array of options to choose from, including posters, prints and wall tapestries, there's never been a better time to appreciate these unique works of art.

Weird Smoking Laws

As more and more states adopt laws that prohibit smoking in public, crushing the hopes of cigar smokers with the ease of crushing a used cigarette, people everywhere are calling "foul," restraining themselves from telling lawmakers to kiss their ash. The laws, to the avid cigar smoker, are avidly ridiculous.

But, ridiculous laws are a part of worldly culture. From a law in Denver that forbids people from loaning vacuum cleaners to other residences, to a law in Wyoming that prohibits people from taking photographs of rabbits during the month of June, many rules and regulations simply make no sense. There is even a law in Champaign, Illinois that makes it illegal for someone to pee in the mouth of their next door neighbor, undoubtedly ruining the weekend plans of innumerable Midwest citizens.

It was only a matter of time before this law lunacy filtered into the tobacco industry. Recently, they've become more obvious, branding our world with a "No Smoking" sign. Not limited to any one state, or any one country, strange smoking laws can be found almost anywhere.

Australia: Australia has a law that bans children from purchasing cigars or cigarettes. This isn't particularly strange as many countries have similar regulations. However, Australia stands out because children, though they can't purchase tobacco, are legally allowed to consume it. As long as they get an adult to buy it for them, Australian children are freely allowed to smoke a cigar in front of a policeman, a parent, a teacher, or even a kangaroo.

New Orleans, Louisiana: In a city known for guilty pleasures - home to everything from Mardi Gras to extravagant casinos - cigar and cigarette smoking are a bit tamed. New Orleans possesses a law that prohibits anyone participating in a carnival or parade to use tobacco products while doing so. In addition to this, a "No Smoking" sign must be visibly attached to all parade floats, not that any onlookers, with troves of nearby women attempting to get beads, are really paying attention.

Zion, Illinois: Just when you think you've heard it all in regards to rules, there is a law in Zion that prohibits owners from giving a lit cigar to any of their domesticated animals. While the law specifically names dogs and cats, it surely applies to any kind of pet: hamster, gerbil, and goldfish. None of these pets are allowed to smoke cigars, no matter how much they beg and plead.

France: Colonel Mustard, in the Boiler Room, with an ashtray. That's right, an ashtray. In France, ashtrays are considered deadly weapons. Perhaps this is because people can use ashtrays to hit others, or perhaps it's because ashtrays are known to prey on unsuspecting victims, jumping them in alleys and blinding them with a cloud of dust. But the most likely reason is simply because it's France. A nation reputed for passivity, some people may think the citizens of France are homicidally threatened by the cast from The Brady Bunch. We do hear that Marcia's packing.

New Jersey: While a sign reading "Do Not Feed the Animals" is common in many zoos, New Jersey takes this notion one step further. Passing a law that prohibits people from giving local zoo animals cigars or whiskey, the creatures in this captivity obviously have no fun. But, being that whiskey is the only liquor specifically named, it leads one to wonder if providing the animals with a cold beer would be equally frowned upon. If not, perhaps the animals would be able to smoke a cigar on occasion. Ya know, socially.

South Bend, Indiana: Keeping with the animal kingdom theme, in South Bend it is illegal to make a monkey smoke a cigarette. This law goes back to 1924 when a monkey was found guilty of the crime of smoking a cigarette and forced to pay a fine of 25 dollars, as well as trial costs. We're not sure what happened when the monkey, recently out of work, wasn't able to come up with the money. Perhaps, he was prohibited from partaking in any form of Evolution.

Newport, Rhode Island: Resting on the East Coast, Newport has a law that prohibits people from smoking a pipe after sunset. Any other time is fine, but once the sun sets, this is one law the avid tobacco lover can not put in his pipe and smoke.

Marceline, Missouri: In this Missouri town, minors are allowed to purchase rolling papers and tobacco, but they aren't allowed to purchase lighters. If only, if only, there was a way to get matches easily, perhaps from a local restaurant or caf. Maybe in a perfect world, the ability to find matches would appear.

Obviously, this world contains a great number of laws that are founded with about as much reason as turning down a million dollars or volunteering to stay on the Titanic. But, the cigar smoker can rest assured that it's not just their luxury that falls victim to this madness. These kinds of laws are everywhere, from prohibiting humming to saying its illegal to drive in a housecoat, these kind of rules put the word "awful" in the word "lawful." And, they make one wonder if more laws can be passed, perhaps a rule that replaces every cigarette with its superior: a cigar.
